THE SLAUGHTER OF SENTIENT BEINGS WITH NO REPERCUSIONS.

Last year I watched a Documentary about Dolphins getting killed in Japan. It was called "The Cove". I found it a really disturbing experience viewing this. I also found that Japan are not the only country that thinks it is OK to treat a highly intelligent being with such cruelty. The other main perpetrators are the Faroe Islands, Denmark, Norway, and a few others. The aforementioned countries appear to be the cruelest though.
These Mammals have a very high Mercury content in their bodies and its not advisable to eat them but still the slaughter continues unabated. The videos below are definitely a bit upsetting to watch.
The documentary "The Cove" is worth a watch and it is not as graphic as the vids below. It shows to what lengths the local and national authorities will go to so as to keep the secret of this barbarity.

  6. I have not seen this movie yet, I have however read about this. I find it sickening how inhumane people can treat naval life. I actually didn't find that south park episode that fun just because I knew that there was a horrible truth behind it.

  11. I really just don't GET it. They don't taste good, they're hard to lure in, you have to kill them 1 at a time, and they are full of mercury. I can't find ANY reason to bother with it other than 'You rich guys can't tell us what to do, we are a proud, hard working people.'

  13. That's pretty messed up. Dolphins aren't sentient, however. They lack self-awareness.

  15. That's messed up, don't see how people are ok with doing things like that.

  16. You really have to be a ruthless and heartless individual to not feel compassion toward these animals. They're beautiful and highly intelligent creatures and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. All those involved in the slaughtering of these amazing beings deserve the highest forms of punishment for their actions.

  17. Dolphins are very intelligent beings, it's sad that they're being slaughtered.

  18. Hey Mike, Dolphins do have self awareness and its well documented. I think that its spoken about on one of the vids.

  25. That is exactly why i hate Humans

  26. That's sad to treat fellow thinking beings that way. It really is an antiquated way of thinking. Especially with globalization, there are much better ways to gain access to food.

  27. Couldn't make it past 1:15 of the second video when the dolphin started shaking. Horrible

  28. lets hope this will have an end some day

  29. I heard of The Cove a while ago, however after just seeing the trailer I wasn't all too comfortable with the idea of watching an hour or two about the slaughter of these harmless creatures. Fucking horrible!

  38. If dolphins are so smart how come they're being killed in such large numbers?

Seriously though, I saw something similar (perhaps the same thing) which indicated that a large amount of what is sold as tuna in Japan is actually dolphin meat.

  39. i saw the cove too,very depressing. :(

  40. The single thing I can't watch is animals getting killed, so I think I'll pass on the documentary even though it interests me a lot actually. I don't understand why we have to slaughter dolphins when tons of other fish and livestock are raised for the sole purpose to be eaten...

  41. This absolutely pisses me off.

  42. thought this was about osama from the title, lol!

  43. OK I need to admit I didn't even wanted to watch these videos. This is something I will never understand. I appreciate your blog for concerning so ambitious and difficult topics.

  44. Oh, that is so sad. I wish stuff like this wasn't happening in the world.

  45. I don't like the pointless murder of animals but if it is a tradition then so be it. As long as they are using the dolphins for something else after (food preferably). Just killing them is pointless even if it is a ritual or a tradition.

  46. This is much more upsetting than anything else I have seen on the internet.

    ReplyDelete
  47. that was so upsetting...i couldn't even finish watching.

  48. Why cant they be like america? Farm your animals and leave the ocean alone? might be because they live on an island... but still, they could set up off shore dolfin/ wale farms? oh bother.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Whoa, poor dolphins. These animals have feelings too.
